Three pizzas, a kitchen counter full of cheesy favourites, a couple of Friday freebies and a cosy Friday night in with good food, good telly and absolutely no cooking! 🍕❤️

Sometimes, a Food Adventure just means staying in your softest pyjamas, ordering enough food to feed a small army, and transforming the kitchen counter into a glorious help-yourself buffet. No need for fancy outfits or new places—just comfort, carbs, and the people you love.

Honestly, this is my kind of night.

With the Celebrity Traitors final to watch and a Halloween episode of Last One Laughing lined up for later (definitely not one for the kids!), we decided a proper cosy Friday night at home was exactly what we needed.

No cooking, no mountain of washing up, and not a single complaint about what Mum’s made for dinner. Bliss.

Our chosen takeaway? One of our regular favourites — Pizza Delicious.

🍕 A Little About Pizza Delicious

Pizza Delicious is a takeaway located at 37 Clifton Road, Rugby, Warwickshire (CV21 3PY).

Although pizza is the main attraction, the menu goes well beyond your standard Margherita and Pepperoni. There’s a generous selection of pizzas, burgers, kebabs, wraps, southern fried chicken, sides and various meal deals.

Their pizzas range from little 6-inch personal pizzas right up to whopping 16-inch family-sized ones, with plenty of topping combinations to choose from.

They also offer a few interesting menu additions, including their Delicious Stuffers, which are essentially pizzas wrapped into rolls; more on those later, because they’re already a favourite in this house! For anyone interested in the practical details, Pizza Delicious holds a 5 (Very Good) Food Hygiene Rating, following an inspection on 22 October 2025.

This wasn’t our first time ordering from Pizza Delicious, either. In fact, it’s one of my regular go-to takeaways whenever I’m craving pizza or a lamb doner kebab.

Something is reassuring about ordering from somewhere familiar. You already know the menu, you have your usual favourites, and you don’t have to spend half an hour scrolling through endless options, wondering whether to risk somewhere new.

Although, judging by the size of our order, knowing the menu inside out does absolutely nothing for my self-control. Oops.

📺 The Perfect Excuse for a Cosy Night In

Friday evening’s entertainment was already sorted before we’d even started thinking about dinner.

First up was the Celebrity Traitors final, followed much later by a Halloween episode of Last One Laughing. And before you ask, the boys were absolutely not invited for that second one! What goes better with an evening of good television than pizza?

Instead of ordering individual meals and sitting down with separate plates, we went with our usual relaxed approach: everything was spread across the kitchen counter, and we helped ourselves. A slice of this, a bit of that, and maybe sneaking another piece when nobody’s watching—standard Friday night procedure.

Not glamorous, but honestly, it’s exactly how we like it.

🧾 What We Ordered

I should probably confess now: this was not a modest little takeaway order. Not even close.

We went for a mix of family favourites, some sharing sides, and a few extras specifically for Saturday. Because if I’m already caving to a takeaway, I might as well make tomorrow’s lunch a no-brainer too!

🍕 The Main Event — Pizza!

Double Deal — £26.00 – Two enormous 14-inch pizzas:

  • Mighty Meaty (14″) – One for the serious meat lovers! According to the Pizza Delicious menu, this came topped with meatballs, spicy beef, lamb doner, turkey ham and smoky sausages. Not exactly a pizza that was holding back on toppings.
  • Pepperoni (14″) — Extra Cheese +£3.00 – Sometimes, you just can’t beat a classic Pepperoni pizza. Naturally, we added extra cheese because apparently the standard amount wasn’t quite enough for us!

Cheese Cravers (12″) — £12.49 – And finally, a pizza dedicated to cheese lovers. The Cheese Cravers combined mozzarella and cheddar, a gloriously cheesy combo that belonged on a Friday night takeaway spread.

Three large pizzas for the three of us might sound a bit much, but that’s the magic of a help-yourself buffet—no one has to pick just one, and leftovers are basically guaranteed.

🧄 The ‘Appetisers’ (Or Sides, As I Call Them!)

The menu might call them appetisers, but I call them sides. Honestly, no proper takeaway night is complete without a few sides thrown in.

Garlic Bread with Cheese (4 pieces) — FREE! – Normally £4.50, but thanks to a Friday Freebie promotion on Just Eat, participating restaurants and takeaways were giving away selected freebies. And ours happened to be garlic bread with cheese. I’m certainly not complaining!

Southern Fried Hot Wings (12 pieces) — £7.00 – These were basically mine. The boys could have their cheesy snacks, because Mum was claiming the chicken wings!

Breaded Mozzarella Sticks (6 pieces) — £4.00 – If there’s one thing I’ve learnt, it’s that my boys can inhale mozzarella sticks faster than I can blink. Six pieces? Gone in a flash.

As for the garlic bread? That was for everyone to share.

All the sides joined the pizzas on our kitchen counter buffet, ready for everyone to grab whatever took their fancy.

🌯 A Little Something for Tomorrow

Technically, these weren’t part of Friday night’s dinner.

But when you’re already ordering a takeaway, adding a few things for the following day’s breakfast or lunch seems perfectly reasonable to me.

At least, that’s what I told myself while adding them to the order. Future me will thank me, right?

Lamb Doner Wraps — 2 × £5.50

  • No lettuce
  • BBQ sauce

These are another of my go-to picks from Pizza Delicious. Some nights I want pizza, some nights I want a kebab, and sometimes I just know tomorrow-me will be thrilled to find a lamb doner wrap in the fridge. And yes, apparently one wrap just wasn’t going to cut it this time.

Delicious Stuffers — 2 for £13.00

These are one of the more unusual things on the Pizza Delicious menu. Essentially, they’re pizza fillings wrapped inside a roll, combining two very good things into one convenient little creation. I ordered one each for the boys:

  • Pepperoni Stuffer for Big Boy
  • Margherita Stuffer for My Spud

I tucked both away for Saturday’s lunch, which meant I could skip the whole ‘what do you want to eat?’ debate for at least one meal. With a ladies’ Halloween afternoon tea on the cards, having the boys’ lunch sorted felt like a small parenting win.

❄️ Saving the Leftovers: Because Waste Not, Want Not!

Just because we ordered enough food to feed a small army doesn’t mean anything was going to waste. Not on my watch!

Once everything had cooled enough after dinner (which honestly didn’t take long!), I popped the lamb doner wraps and Delicious Stuffers straight into the fridge, ready for Saturday.

To reheat them, I planned to make sure everything was piping hot throughout, aiming for an internal temperature above 80°C — especially the lamb doner wraps. After all, there’s a difference between reheating food and simply making it a bit warm again!

And what about the leftover pizza slices? I packed those into freezer bags and tucked them away for another day.

This is one of my favourite little takeaway hacks. When the pizza craving hits, but the budget says no, having a few slices stashed in the freezer is a total lifesaver. My trick? Sprinkle a tiny bit of water on the crust before reheating in the oven. It keeps everything from drying out, and suddenly you’ve got a hot, cheesy meal for basically free.

Takeaway pizza now, emergency pizza later. 🍕

And considering how much we spent on Friday night’s feast, you can bet I was making every last slice count.

🛵 Ordering, Delivery & Friday Freebies

I placed our order through Just Eat at 4:27 pm and selected delivery as soon as possible. One lovely little bonus was the Friday Freebie offer running through Just Eat.

Our garlic bread with cheese, normally £4.50, was free, and we also got free delivery — something we’d ordinarily have to pay for.

Two little wins before we’d even opened a pizza box. I’ll take it!

⏰ A Little Delivery Drama

Unfortunately, the evening wasn’t entirely without its hiccups.

Around 5:30 pm, I received a text from Just Eat saying our order had been delayed, with a revised estimated delivery time of 6:00 pm. Now, this wasn’t the first time we’d experienced a delay when ordering from Pizza Delicious.

Sometimes it seems the food is still being prepared; other times, it’s down to waiting for an assigned delivery driver to pick everything up. There’s no way of knowing exactly what happened this time, though.

Thankfully, the food eventually arrived at 5:57 pm, just three minutes before the revised estimate. That meant we’d waited 1 hour and 30 minutes from placing our order to actually receiving it.

🌡️ But Was Everything Still Hot?

This is where things got a bit disappointing, if I’m honest.

Although the food wasn’t completely cold, everything arrived warm rather than freshly cooked hot. I suspected the order had been sitting around waiting for collection, rather than the delay being caused by the food still cooking.

Of course, that’s just my guess—I can’t say for sure what happened. But when you’re spending nearly £80 on a takeaway, you really do hope everything arrives piping hot and ready to eat.

😋 The Taste Test — Was It As Good As Usual?

It’s all well and good to order from a familiar favourite, but the real test is whether the food lives up to expectations. Especially when you’re spending nearly £80!

Here’s how our Friday night feast went.

🍕 Mighty Meaty Pizza

The Mighty Meaty looked exactly like the kind of pizza you’d expect from a typical local takeaway. Nothing particularly fancy or artisan, just your familiar takeaway-style pizza with a selection of meaty toppings and plenty of melted cheese.

Honestly, all three pizzas were pretty standard takeaway fare, but that’s exactly what we wanted for a relaxed family Friday night.

My verdict: A familiar, no-fuss meat feast.

🧀 Pepperoni Pizza with Extra Cheese

The Pepperoni was another fairly standard takeaway-style pizza, but this was where our little upgrade came into its own.

Adding the extra cheese for £3 was definitely a good decision!

It gave the pizza that extra cheesy indulgence I was craving. Was it the best pizza ever? Not really. But sometimes you just want a classic, cheesy takeaway and nothing more.

My verdict: The extra cheese was worth it!

🍕 Cheese Cravers Pizza

Our third pizza was the Cheese Cravers, featuring mozzarella and cheddar.

Like the others, it was very much your typical takeaway-style pizza rather than anything especially gourmet. But with three pizzas spread across the counter, it fitted right into our little help-yourself feast.

My verdict: A straightforward cheesy takeaway option.

🧄 Garlic Bread with Cheese

Where do I even start with these?

I could honestly eat cheesy garlic bread every single day and never get bored.

There’s just something about warm bread covered in melted cheese and garlic that makes it almost impossible to resist. And the fact that these four pieces were completely free thanks to the promotion? Even better

My verdict: An absolute favourite, and a very welcome freebie!

🍗 Southern Fried Hot Wings

These definitely had a kick! The Southern Fried Hot Wings were spicy enough to keep things interesting, but not so much that I needed a glass of milk on standby.

And since the boys were all about the cheese, I got the wings to myself. Not a single complaint here.

My verdict: A lovely bit of spice without being overpowering.

🧀 Breaded Mozzarella Sticks

Well, I can’t exactly give you a taste review of these.

Why? Because I didn’t even get one!

The boys demolished all six mozzarella sticks in seconds. Honestly, I should have known better than to think I’d get a look in when mozzarella sticks are involved. Judging by how fast they vanished, they were clearly a hit.

The boys’ verdict: Gone before Mum even had a chance!

🌯 The Saturday Leftovers Plan

One perk of a slightly over-the-top takeaway order? Leftovers to look forward to the next day.

I put aside the lamb doner wraps and the boys’ Delicious Stuffers for Saturday, so the takeaway wasn’t just a one-night treat.

My Lamb Doner Wrap

The lamb doner wrap is already one of my regular favourites from Pizza Delicious, so I made sure to add it to the order—no lettuce, extra BBQ sauce, and a ready-made lunch for me.

Big Boy’s Pepperoni Stuffer

Big Boy had his Pepperoni Delicious Stuffer waiting for Saturday’s lunch.

My Spud’s Margherita Stuffer

And My Spud had his Margherita version, because honestly, you can’t go wrong with pizza and cheese in this house.

💷 The Damage — Was It Worth £77.98?

Let’s talk money, because takeaways aren’t exactly the cheapest way to feed a family these days.

Here’s what went into Friday night’s order:

What We OrderedPrice
Double Deal — 2 × 14″ pizzas£26.00
Pepperoni extra cheese£3.00
Cheese Cravers 12″£12.49
Garlic Bread with CheeseFREE
Southern Fried Hot Wings (12)£7.00
Mozzarella Sticks (6)£4.00
Lamb Doner Wraps (2 × £5.50)£11.00
Delicious Stuffers (2)£13.00
Just Eat Service Fee£1.49
DeliveryFREE
Total Paid£77.98

Yes, nearly £80 on a takeaway is a lot, and it’s definitely not something I’d want to do every Friday night.

But this wasn’t just one meal. We had three pizzas, plenty of sharing sides, a couple of freebies and extras set aside for the following day. We also tucked any remaining pizza slices away in the freezer, so we’d get another easy meal for the boy’s from the order.

The Double Deal at £26 was a pretty good way to get two big pizzas, and the free cheesy garlic bread and free delivery were lovely bonuses. Of course, there was still the £1.49 Just Eat service fee, because there’s always one sneaky extra charge hiding on the bill.

So, Was It Worth It?

I’d call it a mixed bag, but mostly in a good way. pizzas themselves were fairly standard takeaway fare rather than anything extraordinary. The extra cheese on the Pepperoni was definitely worth adding; the wings had a lovely bit of spice, and the cheesy garlic bread was right up my street. The mozzarella sticks were clearly a winner with the boys, although I would have appreciated them leaving at least one for their poor mother!

My main gripe was the delivery. Waiting an hour and a half wasn’t ideal, and getting food that was only just warm instead of hot definitely took some of the shine off. Still, given how much we ordered and that some of it lasted into Saturday, it felt like a pretty reasonable treat for a cosy family night in.

Was it an exceptional takeaway? Not really. But was it the familiar, comforting food we wanted for a lazy Friday night? Absolutely.

⭐ Overall Takeaway Rating4/5

⭐ Overall Rating: 4/5

Pizza Delicious earns a solid 4/5 stars from us!

It wasn’t an extraordinary takeaway, but it was a satisfying, familiar Friday-night feast with plenty of food to go around. The extra cheese on the Pepperoni was worth every penny, the garlic bread was an absolute favourite, and the mozzarella sticks vanished before I even got a look in.

The only things holding it back from five stars were the long delivery wait and the fact that everything arrived just warm instead of hot.

Would we order again? Absolutely. There’s a reason Pizza Delicious is still one of our regulars, though next time I’d really appreciate my dinner arriving a bit hotter.

❤️ Final Thoughts — Sometimes Home Is the Best Place to Be

As much as I love discovering new places to eat, there’s something just as lovely about a proper takeaway night at home. No reservations, no rushing to get ready, and no pressure to be anywhere but the sofa.

Just a kitchen counter covered in pizza boxes, the boys helping themselves, favourite comfort food, and a Friday evening of telly. With Halloween the next day, it was the perfect way to start the weekend.

Pizza Delicious has been one of our regular takeaway choices for a while now, particularly when we’re in the mood for pizza or kebabs, so Friday night was less about discovering somewhere new and more about enjoying an old favourite.

It wasn’t perfect—I would have loved the food to arrive hotter, especially after the wait, and the pizzas were pretty ordinary. But there was still plenty to enjoy: extra-cheesy Pepperoni, spicy wings, and those mozzarella sticks that disappeared before I could blink. With extras saved for Saturday and a few emergency pizza slices in the freezer, we definitely made the most of our takeaway treat.

Would we order again? Yes! It’s still one of our regular local takeaway choices.

Would we change anything next time? Hopefully a shorter wait and hotter food. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll order extra mozzarella sticks, so Mum actually gets one!

Because sometimes the best Food Adventures aren’t about going somewhere new—they’re the ones that arrive at your front door in a stack of pizza boxes.
