I had far more expectations going into this box than I did with Hungary. Spanish food and flavours feel much more familiar, but that didn’t mean I had any idea what sort of sweets, crisps and drinks would be waiting inside.

Spain is somewhere I’m much more familiar with than Hungary, so I went into this box wondering whether I’d recognise any of the products or flavours.
There were certainly some familiar names waiting inside—Cheetos, Doritos, Ruffles and Fini—but the flavours were nothing like the versions I’d usually find during a normal UK supermarket trip.
Fried-egg crisps, ham-flavoured Ruffles and strawberry-and-cream sweets?
This could be an interesting one.

Just like the Hungary edition, the Spain booklet is part snack guide and part miniature travel magazine.
Alongside descriptions, ingredients and allergen information for every product, it includes facts about Spain, traditional dishes, travel inspiration, useful phrases, activities and a featured recipe.
Most interesting fact: The Twelve Lucky Grapes – every New Year’s Eve, Spaniards eat 12 grapes – one with each stroke of midnight. Each grape is said to bring good luck for one month of the year, making it one of Spain’s most cherished traditions.

With 20 snacks and one drink waiting to be investigated, Spain has given me plenty to work through.
There are savoury snacks inspired by everything from fried eggs to pizza, a substantial pile of chocolate and sweets, and one very bright can of orange soda to wash it all down.
Some of these already feel like fairly safe choices.
Others…not so much.

Spain’s savoury selection contains plenty of bold flavours, crunchy textures and combinations I definitely wouldn’t have found in an ordinary UK snack aisle.
💭 My Honest Review
Hell to the no.
I hate eggs anyway—unless they’re hidden inside a cake—so it’s no surprise that these were the very last savoury snack I worked up the courage to try.
I started by smelling the packet, and they surprisingly smelled like ready-salted crisps. That made me think, Okay…perhaps they won’t be that bad.
I was wrong.
As soon as the fried-egg flavour came through, I literally gagged and felt like I was going to be sick. There was absolutely no easing into it—the egg taste arrived, and my taste buds immediately wanted out of the experience.
Honestly, what sociopath decided fried egg would make a good crisp flavour?!
Apparently, both of my boys completely disagree with me because they thought they were delicious and happily shared the rest of the bag. At least they didn’t go to waste—but they’re welcome to keep every last one!

After the very basil-heavy pizza crocodiles from last month’s Hungary box, I was curious to see whether these would deliver more of the pizza flavour I’d originally hoped for.
Thankfully, they did!
There was a definite pizza taste from the first bite, with a lovely savoury combination of tomato, cheese and pepperoni-style seasoning. The herbs were much better balanced this time and didn’t overpower everything else, so the flavour tasted far more like an actual pizza rather than a mouthful of basil.
I also loved their tiny triangle shape. They looked like miniature hollow Doritos and were incredibly cute—but their small size also made them dangerously easy to keep snacking on. Before you know it, you’ve eaten considerably more than you intended!
These were crunchy, nicely seasoned and very moreish. I’d happily eat another packet and would love to discover whether Doritos Bits come in any other flavours.

When I first saw these barbecue-flavoured rings, I immediately expected them to be similar to the thick, chunky Hula Hoops we have here in the UK.
They certainly looked the part on the packaging, so I was quite surprised to discover that they were much smaller and thinner once I opened the bag. Thankfully, that initial surprise didn’t stop me from enjoying them!
The rings had a lovely light crunch, while the barbecue seasoning was nicely balanced. It gave them plenty of savoury flavour without becoming too smoky, salty or overpowering—the sort of barbecue snack I could keep eating without the seasoning becoming too much after a few handfuls.
They weren’t quite what I’d imagined, but they ended up being a really enjoyable discovery. Sometimes being proved wrong by a snack is a very good thing!
I’d happily eat these again and could easily imagine finishing an entire bag without noticing.

I was curious to see whether these would taste noticeably different from the bacon-flavoured crisps we get here in the UK, especially as they’re meant to be jamón flavoured.
Honestly, though…they just tasted like ordinary bacon crisps to me.
The ridged crisps had a satisfying crunch and the flavour was perfectly nice, but I couldn’t detect anything that made them taste particularly like Spanish ham rather than standard bacon seasoning.
There was nothing wrong with them, and I’d happily finish the packet, but they didn’t offer the different or distinctly Spanish flavour I’d been hoping for.

With these being Cheetos—and literally having Queso written on the packet—I went in expecting plenty of bold, cheesy flavour.
Unfortunately, they didn’t quite deliver.
The large, football-shaped pieces were fun and had the familiar light, crunchy corn texture I’d expect from Cheetos, but the cheese seasoning was surprisingly mild. I kept waiting for that proper cheesy hit to arrive, especially compared with the stronger Cheetos flavours we get here in the UK, but it never really did.
They weren’t unpleasant, and I could snack on them, but they were much less exciting than I’d expected. When I choose Cheetos, I want unmistakably cheesy fingers afterwards—and these simply didn’t have enough flavour to make them memorable.

The texture of these immediately reminded me of cheesy puffs—light, airy and slightly melt-in-the-mouth—but the flavour was completely different.
They tasted like a mixture of butter and ready-salted crisps. The buttery flavour was definitely noticeable without being too overpowering. Big Boy shared the packet with me, and he picked up on the butter flavour straight away too, so it certainly wasn’t just me!
They were perfectly enjoyable, although they felt more like a simple children’s snack than something I’d personally rush out to find again. I could easily imagine them being popped into a lunchbox or poured into bowls at a children’s party.

I was disappointed by this one—but I’ll admit my expectations were partly my own fault!
From looking at the packet, I somehow convinced myself it contained lots of different types and shapes of nuts. It wasn’t until I opened it that I realised it was actually a trail-style mix containing peeled sunflower seeds, crunchy corn pieces and little seasoned balls.
Clearly, I should’ve read the booklet properly first!
Even after getting over my initial confusion, I still didn’t particularly enjoy it. I couldn’t really taste the barbecue flavour it was meant to have, and none of the different pieces stood out enough to keep me interested.
I can imagine someone who enjoys trail mix appreciating the mixture of shapes and textures, but it definitely wasn’t for me.

Spain didn’t produce a five-rocket savoury snack, but these little barbecue rings came incredibly close!
I initially expected them to be thick and chunky like Hula Hoops, so I was surprised by how small and light they were. Thankfully, that light crunch combined with a nicely balanced barbecue flavour made them dangerously easy to keep eating.
The Doritos Bits Pizza Pepperoni put up some strong competition, especially with their miniature triangle shapes and much better-balanced pizza seasoning. However, the Kaskys just managed to claim the savoury crown for being the packet I found myself most happily snacking my way through.
🍫 Sweet Treats
With pastries, chocolate bars, wafers, gummy sweets and a few very nostalgic-looking treats, Spain’s sweet selection is considerably larger than its savoury offering.
As someone with a permanent sweet tooth, I’m not exactly complaining.

This was a simple chocolate wafer bar, but a really enjoyable one!
The combination of crisp wafer and chocolate immediately reminded me of a Time Out bar here in the UK. It had that same light, crunchy texture, with enough chocolate to make it feel like a proper treat without becoming too heavy or overly rich.
There wasn’t anything unusual or complicated about it—it was simply really nice and very easy to eat. Sometimes a familiar-tasting chocolate bar is exactly what you want, and this one disappeared far too quickly!
I’d happily eat more of these and could easily see myself enjoying one alongside a brew.

Well…the lemon was definitely lemon-ing with this one!
I personally prefer lemon-flavoured treats to have just a gentle hint of citrus, but this had a much stronger lemon flavour than I usually enjoy. If you’re a proper lemon lover, that would probably be a very good thing—but for me, it was simply a bit too much.
I did like the little bite-sized cube, though. It was a really handy size and would be perfect for popping into a lunchbox or enjoying as a quick afternoon treat when you want something sweet without opening a full-sized cake.

I’ll admit, I approached this one with a little caution.
I’m not always a fan of packaged cakes with cream inside because the filling can sometimes taste quite artificial—and unfortunately, that was still in the back of my mind while trying the Dulcesol Snack Pinky.
It was alright. The soft sponge and cream filling made it look like a fun little treat, but the flavour didn’t particularly excite me. There wasn’t anything horribly wrong with it, and I could eat it perfectly happily, but it wasn’t something I found myself craving more of afterwards.

The little palm-shaped pastries had a lovely crisp, flaky texture with just enough sugar on top to make them feel like a treat without becoming overly sweet. They’re simple, but sometimes those are the snacks that work best—especially when they come with a side of unexpected nostalgia.

I’m not normally a huge fan of this type of gummy sweet, so I wasn’t expecting these to do much for me—but they were actually not bad!
Both flavours came through surprisingly well. There was a proper fruity strawberry taste followed by a smooth, creamy flavour, so they genuinely tasted like strawberries and cream rather than being strawberry sweets that happened to have a white section.
They still weren’t quite enough to convert me into a massive gummy-sweet fan, but I enjoyed them more than I expected. If strawberries-and-cream sweets are your thing, I can imagine these being very easy to keep reaching for.

They had a soft, chewy outside with a surprisingly juicy centre, followed by a very strong cherry flavour. There was certainly no mistaking what flavour they were meant to be!
I’m not usually a huge fan of strong cherry sweets, so they weren’t really my thing. That said, they were still nice, and I can imagine anyone who loves fruity, cherry-flavoured sweets really enjoying them.
The juicy middle made them a little more interesting than an ordinary gummy sweet, but the flavour was simply too intense for me to want another packet.

These were perfectly nice, although they weren’t particularly amazing or memorable.
The biscuits had a simple, lightly crunchy texture with a layer of chocolate filling sandwiched between them. They tasted good enough and were easy to eat, but there wasn’t anything about the flavour that made them stand out from other chocolate-filled biscuits.
They definitely felt more like something you’d pop into a child’s lunchbox than a treat I’d specifically choose for myself.
The most interesting part was the printed images on each biscuit. Mine appeared to feature a football player, which was a cool little detail and made them much more fun than an ordinary plain biscuit—especially for children.
Nice enough while I was eating them, but probably not one I’ll remember once the Spain box is finished.

Another chocolate snack claimed by the UK heatwave!
By the time I opened this one, it had melted considerably. The bar had lost most of its original shape, and I had to salvage what I could rather than enjoying it as intended. Not exactly the most glamorous taste test—but I wasn’t going to let a little melted chocolate stop me!
From what I managed to rescue, it wasn’t too bad. The chocolate and creamy milk filling made it sweet and pleasant enough, while the little Lacasitos pieces added a touch of colour and crunch wherever they had survived the melting.
There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with it, but there also wasn’t anything that made it stand out. Even allowing for its heatwave-related condition, it felt like one of those snacks I’d eat if it were there but probably wouldn’t remember once the box was finished.
Perhaps it deserved a fairer chance in cooler weather, but based on this very melted encounter, it didn’t leave much of an impression.

Before opening the packet, I was expecting to find two fairly large ring-shaped biscuits inside. Instead, I discovered eight tiny ones—and they were ridiculously cute!
Unfortunately, they had all become stuck together in one solid little bundle. I’m blaming the UK heatwave for that rather than the biscuits themselves, as the white chocolate coating had clearly softened somewhere along the way.
Thankfully, I managed to prise them apart without causing too much damage—and then promptly devoured every single one.
The biscuits had a lovely crunch beneath the smooth, sweet white chocolate coating. Despite being completely stuck together when I opened them, they still tasted delicious and were dangerously easy to keep eating. Their miniature size somehow made them even more snackable because I could keep convincing myself that having another one barely counted.
Eight little biscuits disappeared surprisingly quickly!
These were easily one of my favourite discoveries from the box so far. I didn’t just enjoy them—I immediately started wondering where I could find another packet.

Oh, these were amazing!
The crisp wafer and creamy filling immediately reminded me of a Kinder Bueno, but with a delicious cookies-and-cream twist. It had that same light crunch and smooth centre, with little chocolatey biscuit pieces adding even more flavour and texture.

The watermelon certainly watermelon-ed with this one!
The flavour hit hard from the very first bite, so there was absolutely no mistaking what it was meant to taste like. Unfortunately, it was also much more sour than I expected.
I don’t mind a little fizzy tang, but this was strong enough to overpower everything else. Between the intense watermelon flavour and the full-on sourness, it was simply too much for my taste buds.
If you love bold, sour sweets, this could be right up your street—but it definitely wasn’t for me.

Unfortunately, this one wasn’t particularly impressive.
As a chocolate-covered rolled sponge cake, I expected a little more flavour from the sponge or filling. Instead, the only flavour I could really taste was the chocolate coating on the outside—and even that wasn’t exciting enough to rescue it.
The sponge itself didn’t seem to taste of much at all, making the whole thing feel quite bland and forgettable. It wasn’t horrible, but there was nothing about it that made me want another bite, let alone another packet.
Compared with some of the other sweet treats in the Spain box, this one simply didn’t deliver.

These immediately reminded me of the sweets we used to buy for about 5p after school—a proper little burst of childhood nostalgia!
I received one strawberry and one cola Palote, and both flavours were really nice. They were easy to recognise without tasting artificial or becoming too overpowering, which can sometimes happen with chewy sweets like these.
They’re definitely more of a fun little treat for children than something I’d specifically buy for myself now, but I still enjoyed trying them. I can imagine them being perfect for party bags, lunchbox treats or spending a little bit of pocket money at the corner shop—although I doubt you’d find them for 5p these days!

Spain gave us two incredible five-rocket sweet treats, so choosing between the Filipinos White Chocolate and Nocilla Barritas Cookies & Cream wasn’t easy.
The Filipinos were tiny, white-chocolate-covered biscuits that I immediately wanted to hunt down again. However, the Nocilla bar tasted like a Kinder Bueno had been given a cookies-and-cream makeover—and apparently, that’s exactly what’s been missing from my life!
The crisp wafer, smooth filling and crunchy chocolate biscuit pieces worked perfectly together. It was sweet, creamy, light and dangerously moreish.
When a snack leaves me declaring that I don’t simply want another one but genuinely need more of them in my life, it deserves the crown.
🥤 Drinks
Spain’s box only included one drink, so there won’t be a category competition this month—but it can still earn its place among the overall favourites.
💭 My Honest Review
There’s something about an orange fizzy drink that instantly feels like summer, and KAS Naranja definitely delivered those sunny holiday vibes.
The first thing I noticed was how clearly I could taste the real orange juice. It gave the drink a fresher, fruitier flavour than some orange fizzy drinks, which can occasionally taste overly sweet or slightly artificial.
It wasn’t overly carbonated either. There was enough fizz to make it refreshing, but not so much that it distracted from the orange flavour.
It was pleasant and very easy to drink. I could absolutely picture myself sipping an ice-cold can while sitting at a Spanish beach or pavement café in the sunshine—even if it wasn’t quite exciting enough to become a new favourite at home.

A refreshing orange drink with a noticeable real-fruit flavour and just the right amount of fizz.
I enjoyed it and would happily drink one again, especially on a sunny Spanish holiday, but it didn’t quite stand out enough to earn four rockets. 🍊☀️

🥤 The Drink Verdict
With only one drink included in the Spain box, KAS Naranja didn’t exactly have much competition—but it still deserves its own verdict!
It had a lovely orange flavour that reminded me of Tango, although it wasn’t quite as fizzy. It was fruity, refreshing and easy to drink, especially during the ridiculously hot weather we’ve been having.
It wasn’t unusual or exciting enough to become a drink I’d desperately hunt down again, but I still enjoyed it and would happily drink another can.
My only real disappointment was that it was Spain’s only drink. The Premium Box usually includes one or two, and after receiving two different drinks in the Hungary box, I would’ve liked another Spanish option to try.

Filipinos White Chocolate
Tiny, crunchy, covered in white chocolate and dangerously easy to devour.
I expected two large biscuits and instead discovered eight adorable miniature ones stuck together in a heatwave-induced bundle. That didn’t stop me from prising them apart and eating every last one!
These were one of the first snacks that made me immediately wonder where I could buy more.
👦 The Boys’ Favourite
El Valle Huevo Frito
Yes, really.
The fried-egg crisps that made me gag were apparently delicious according to both boys. They happily shared the rest of the packet while I tried to recover from my one extremely regrettable bite.
At least somebody appreciated them!
🤯 Biggest Surprise
Tosfrit Kaskys Barbacoa
I expected thick, chunky rings similar to Hula Hoops, so their much smaller and lighter appearance surprised me.
Thankfully, it was a good surprise. They had a lovely crunch and a barbecue flavour that wasn’t too overpowering, making them incredibly easy to keep eating.

Nocilla Barritas Cookies & Cream
This wasn’t simply something I’d eat again if it appeared in another box.
I actively need to find more—and preferably in a multipack!
Honourable mentions go to the Filipinos White Chocolate, Huesitos Original, Doritos Bits Pizza Pepperoni and Tosfrit Kaskys Barbacoa.

El Valle Huevo Frito
There really couldn’t be another winner.
I was brave. I smelled them first. They smelled harmlessly like ready-salted crisps. Then the fried-egg flavour appeared, and I genuinely gagged.
A deserved winner of the boys’ favourite and my Absolutely Not for Me award at exactly the same time!
🇪🇸 Most Spanish-Feeling Snack
Dulcesol Palmeritas
The moment I bit into one, I was transported back to childhood visits to my grandparents when they lived in Spain.
They were crisp, flaky and gently sweet, but that completely unexpected rush of nostalgia made them feel extra special. Add a proper brew, and I’d happily eat them all over again.

The Sweet Treat Champion also takes Spain’s overall crown!
The combination of crisp wafer, creamy filling and crunchy chocolate biscuit pieces was amazing. It was familiar enough to remind me of a Kinder Bueno while still offering something different with its cookies-and-cream flavour.
⚔️ Spain vs Hungary
Two countries have now entered the SnackVerse arena—but only one can claim the first overall destination crown!
Best Savoury Selection: Hungary 🇭🇺
Spain gave us some very enjoyable savoury discoveries, particularly the barbecue Kaskys and tiny pizza-flavoured Doritos.
However, Hungary still takes this category thanks to its five-rocket Chio Cheese and Onion Crisps, which remain the strongest savoury snack from either box so far.
Best Sweet Selection: Spain 🇪🇸
Spain wins this one comfortably.
The Filipinos White Chocolate and Nocilla Barritas Cookies & Cream both earned five rockets, while the nostalgic Palmeritas and Time Out-like Huesitos weren’t far behind.
There were several disappointing cakes and sweets, but Spain’s best sweet treats were some of the strongest products from either country.
Best Drinks: Hungary 🇭🇺
Spain’s KAS Naranja was fruity, refreshing and pleasantly fizzy, but it was the only drink included.
Hungary offered two drinks, including the elderflower Márka Bodza and the white-grape-like Traubisoda. The greater variety—and the unusual elderflower discovery—gives Hungary the drinks crown.
Best Nostalgic Moment: Spain 🇪🇸
The Palmeritas unexpectedly transported me back to childhood holidays visiting my grandparents in Spain.
Neither box had produced such a strong personal memory before, so Spain easily takes this one.
Most Consistent Box: Hungary 🇭🇺
Spain reached greater heights with two five-rocket treats, but it also had four products sitting at the very bottom of the rankings.
Hungary felt more consistent overall, particularly when it came to the savoury selection and drinks.
Overall Winning Box: Spain 🇪🇸
This was incredibly close.
Hungary delivered the stronger savoury selection, more drink variety and a slightly more consistent collection of snacks. Spain, however, gave me two genuine five-rocket discoveries, a lovely childhood memory and several products I’d happily buy again.
Spain wasn’t as consistent—but its best snacks were simply too good to ignore.
By the tiniest wafer-covered margin, Spain steals the first SnackVerse crown! 🏆🇪🇸
💭 Was the Spain Premium Box Worth It?
The Spain Premium Box included 20 snacks and one drink for £23.99, working out at approximately £1.14 per product.
Considering these were imported products that allowed me to try several Spanish brands and flavours without hunting everything down individually, I still think that represents good value.
There was a varied mixture of crisps, corn snacks, chocolate, biscuits, cakes and sweets, although I would’ve liked a second drink to balance the box a little better. Hungary’s two drinks made its selection feel more generous.
The condition of some chocolate products wasn’t perfect. The Filipinos had melted together, while the Lacasitos bar was particularly badly affected. However, the UK heatwave was clearly responsible, and I could still salvage enough to give everything a rating.
Not every product impressed me, but that’s part of the fun of a mystery taste-test box. I discovered two new five-rocket favourites, revisited a childhood memory and tried several flavours I never would’ve chosen for myself—including one I sincerely wish I hadn’t!
Overall, yes—the Spain Premium Box was worth £23.99, and I’m happy to continue my SnackVerse journey.
💭 Final Thoughts
Spain certainly took me on a journey.
There were familiar flavours, unexpected childhood memories, melted chocolate, surprisingly mild Cheetos and one horrifying encounter with a fried-egg crisp.
The Filipinos White Chocolate became one of my personal favourites, while the Nocilla Cookies & Cream bar claimed the overall crown and became the snack I most desperately need to find again.
The Dulcesol Palmeritas unexpectedly transported me back to visiting my grandparents in Spain, proving that sometimes the simplest snack can bring back the strongest memories.
At the opposite end of the rankings, Phoskitos was probably the most forgettable product, while the El Valle Huevo Frito crisps were unquestionably the most horrifying. I tried one bite, gagged and immediately handed the packet to two children who apparently have deeply questionable taste in crisps.
Spain wasn’t the most consistent box, and I would’ve appreciated another drink. However, its strongest snacks were genuinely brilliant—and having two five-rocket discoveries was enough to give Spain the overall victory against Hungary.
Spain arrived with plenty to prove and, by the narrowest of margins, managed to steal the SnackVerse crown.

That brings July’s SnackVerse adventure—and my blogging for the moment—to an end because I’m heading off on holiday for a week!
